ANGUS WOOD was a research analyst in Screen Digest's video team, tracking developments in both the video and games industries for the monthly Screen Digest newsletter. He researched and co-authored the Screen Digest report The outlook for online rental: A strategic analysis of the US and European markets, and has contributed to a number of key consultancy projects. Most recently, he has completed a report examining the changing theatrical-to-DVD window in the US and key European territories for presentation to the 14th European Video Perspectives (PEVE) conference, for which Screen Digest compiles the programme.
Angus read History at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he was also awarded an MPhil for his research into the British intelligence services.

Developing an attractive consumer proposition is
gaining ground on the bricks-and-mortar tradition The business model developed by Netflix - of
multiple DVD borrowings delivered by postal
services for a fixed monthly fee - is being adopted
by other so-called rentailers and is gaining ground
in the marketplace. It avoids the disadvantages
perceived by consumers of having to visit a store
twice to choose and return a title, with the risk of
fines for late returns. But the model has its own
issues to contend with.
