Maria holds a degree in Economics and Business Studies from Vigo University (Spain), and an MBA from Cardiff Business School.

New legislation allowing the launch of pay services on digital terrestrial in Spain was passed in August. Privately-held Mediapro is thus clear to offer its new pay channel, Gol TV, on DTT as well as cable and IPTV. Prisa has launched a rival channel, Canal Plus La Liga, showing the same matches from the Spanish league via satellite. Screen Digest expects pay DTT to carve out a significant niche in the market, signing up 1m subs, while the resolution of its dispute over soccer rights with Mediapro will allow Digital Plus to resume growth - though slowly.
