SUE SPARKS has been involved in research, writing and consulting in the media sector since 1993, specialising in the impact of digital technologies on publishing and television. She spent five years at the digital media consultancy, Informed Sources, which she joined after more than a decade in various research and editorial roles at the Financial Times. Her clients have included Hearst, Dow Jones and the BBC. She has co-authored studies of the competitiveness of the UK and European publishing industries for the DTI and the European Commission and has recently been involved in a number of projects examining the challenges faced by scientific publishing in the digital environment, which are driving the development of new business models.
