PEVE Entertainment 2012: British Museum, London, 27-28 March 2012
From the brand new opening night networking reception and screening, courtesy of Rovi Europe and Universal Pictures, to the closing Consumer Panel, once again presented in partnership with the DEGE, this year's PEVE Entertainment conference offers unmissable networking and intelligence opportunities for all home entertainment executives.
London, 24th February 2011. IHS Screen Digest is delighted to announce that delegates at PEVE Entertainment 2011 will be among the first in the UK* to see Universal Pictures' highly anticipated new film The Eagle, thanks to a special preview screening on Wednesday 9th March. This brand new networking event will take place at the Apollo Cinema, Piccadilly, in the heart of London on the night before the start of the conference and will include an informal drinks and canapés reception sponsored by Rovi Europe.
The Eagle is a Roman epic adventure, based on Rosemary Sutcliffe's classic novel The Eagle Of The Ninth, and set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain.
In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the Commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Jamie Bell) Marcus sets out across Hadrian's Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia - to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory and retrieve the lost legion's golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.
IHS Screen Digest is also pleased to confirm that PEVE's unique 'live focus group' will once again be brought to delegates courtesy of the Digital Entertainment Group Europe (DEGE). A highlight of the conference programme, this session gives delegates direct access to a panel of real consumers, hand picked to confirm to key demographic and behavioural profiles. This year the panel will address the vital question "Where have all the buyers gone?" by bringing together a group of formerly active DVD purchasers and exploring the reasons behind their changing behaviour. Under the guidance of expert moderators, this unique consumer panel, produced in cooperation with market research specialists Vital Findings, will track down these hard-to-find consumers and ask them what's going on.
Jonathan Beardsworth, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Technicolor Home Entertainment Services and DEGE board member will reprise his role as session co-moderator.
"Following the success of last year's PEVE consumer panel, we saw that there's an obvious hunger among attendees for candid, no-holds-barred feedback directly from everyday consumers," Beardsworth commented. "This year, we plan to be even more provocative, and ask the questions that get to heart of the beliefs and attitudes that are guiding the purchasing decisions of today's consumers to help ensure the industry continues adapting."
Beardsworth added: "The Digital Entertainment Group Europe is committed to advancing the knowledge base of the home entertainment sector, and we believe this kind of qualitative insight can be invaluable in terms of helping to effectively guide strategic decision-makers."
* The Eagle will be on general release in the UK from 25 March.
