Overview
We have undertaken a major restructuring of The Television Intelligence service to bring on-line a number of new data tables and make the service easier to navigate. Users will now find the service quicker to use, more intuitive and benefit from additional data and analysis. This guide is intended to give an overview of the way in which data has been organised and the best and quickest way to find the information you need in the shortest amount of time.
Organisation and structure
As before the country data grids and each section within them is organised in a 'top down' structure with summary whole sector information in the first tables gradually drilling down to more detailed, usually company-level, information.
Summaries
The data grid starts with a series of summary tables that give multi-platform overviews for all of the key metrics. In this section, tables show whole market totals for penetration of each of the TV platforms, total revenues, total ARPUs and platform market shares. The section starts with a new table that summarises all of these metrics and is designed to give a one-shot snapshot of the entire market.
Penetration rates by platform and subscriber and household numbers are provided at both a total and primary usage level.
The data tables in this section should provide most of the answers to questions that don't require company-level information.
Core platform tables
The data tables for the core subscriber, revenue and by-company data have been organised on a strict platform basis based on the following platforms:
- Cable
- Satellite
- IPTV
- Digital Terrestrial Television
- Analogue platforms
- Premium services
Each section covers both subscriber/household numbers and revenue/ARPU information. Company-level detail is provided on both an annual and quarterly basis.
This section should answer more detailed questions that users may have on individual companies and detailed questions about platforms and markets like 'cable' or 'satellite'
Cross-platform information
Certain information does not fit neatly into a single platform sub-section and is thus provided in cross-platform sections that are based largely on service-type. Cross-platform services and information are included in the following sections:
- Multiservice and triple-play
- On-Demand
- Public TV
- HDTV
- Rights and content
- Advertising
- Technology
This section will answer detailed questions about specific sub-sets of the television business.
Cross territory data
Key metrics within each of the main sections detailed above are also presented in tables for all markets covered in the service so that a single metric can be seen for all countries in a single table and regional sub-totals calculated. These tables contain sub-totals for Western Europe; Central and Eastern Europe; European Union (EU 27); Middle East and Africa; North America; South and Central America; and Asia-Pacific.
The main navigation sub-sections within the cross-territory data set are:
- Summaries
- Cable
- Satellite
- IPTV
- DTT
- Premium services
- Analogue platforms
- On-Demand
- Multiservice & triple play
- HDTV
- Public TV
