Cinedigm continues restucture with sale of screen advertising arm

September 02, 2011

In the wake of selling off its digital distribution assets to Technicolor, US digital cinema services and content provision company Cinedigm has sold off cinema screen advertising arm to screen advertiser Screenvision. Unique Screen Media was acquired by Cinedigm in 2007 as a third plank in the strategy of providing content (pre-show, movies, alternative content) to cinema exhibitors. The sale is a further move towards repositioning Cinedigm as a content provider to US exhibitors, as well as focusing on digital cinema software. Screenvision's national cinema advertising network now numbers 15,266 screens, of which 10,622 screens are digital.  Screenvision and Cinedigm are also entering into a long-term agreement for Cinedigm to become a provider of alternative content to Screenvision, including promotion.
