NEW Screen Digest research shows that Spanish online TV market is set to grow 8 times to 2014
June 14, 2010 New Spanish online TV and user-generated video data is now available on the Screen Digest website. Screen Digest estimates that the Spanish online TV market will explode from €5.8m ($8.0m) in 2009 to €47.1m ($65.7m) in 2014. The growth comes virtually exclusively from advertising funded sector, which accounts for 99% of total market. Broadcasters are quickly becoming the dominant force on the market: in 2009 they accounted for 42% of both revenue and views. As the broadcasters become more aggressive with respect to ad loads on their catch-up services, their share of advertising revenue will grow to 75% by 2014. Overall, free-to-view online TV consumption in Spain will grow from 0.9bn annual views in 2009 to nearly 3bn in 2014. However, these numbers pale in comparison to views on user-generated video services which totalled 13.9bn in 2009 and will grow by 72 per cent to 23.9bn views in 2014. Tags:
