Canal Plus Dos will be the third pay DTT channel in Spain after the launch of Mediapro's sports channel Gol TV in August 2009 and Sony's movie channel AXN in May 2010. Gol TV costs euro14.90 a month  and until 31st August  comes with AXN for free. The bundle is aimed at retaining subscribers to GOL TV  in the summer period when there are no 1st Division football games. After 31st August AXN will cost euro2 extra on the top of the euro14.90 for Gol TV.  During its first year, Mediapro has added 200,000 subscribers to its pay DTT channel and hopes to add more with the addition of AXN to its package .  Sogecable's  strategy to launch Canal Plus Dos in DTT is a logical move taking into account the popularity of DTT in Spain and recent loss of subscribers to its satellite platform. Digital Plus has lost 146,000 subscribers in the last 12 months and now has a subscriber base of 1.785m. Since 2010 Canal Plus premium has been available in cable operator Telecable and IPTV operators Jazztel and Orange. With Jazztel, Sogecable signed a marketing deal to offer Digital Plus together with telephony and Internet via the Jazztel IPTV network. Canal Plus Dos will replace 40 Latino in the DTT platform and Sogecable hopes to boost its revenues and subscriber base with this new launch.
