South Korea a bright spot in Asian cinema: Average cinemagoing rates have doubled in three years
Of all the Asia-Pacific markets, Australia and New Zealand are easily the most densely screened, with 94 and 82 screens per million head of population respectively. Although comparable with a market like France, this level of screen concentration is significantly higher than most other Western European countries. It is around 50-60 per cent higher than the UK for example.

Video consumer spending doubles in four years: Brits spend 50 per cent more on video retail than anyone else in Europe
The average Western European spent an average of €33 on video (DVD and VHS) in 2003, according to preliminary estimates by Screen Digest, of which €25.7 is expected to go to the retail sector. Largely down to the phenomenal growth in DVD in recent years, spending per head has actually doubled in the past four years (from €16.5 per head in 1999).

Exports of television programming from the UK reached £684m in 2002, a two per cent increase on the previous year, and a new record for the sector. Sales of UK television programming abroad are now 120 per cent higher than they were five years ago.
