Mobile service provider, Livewire Mobile, has introduced a new ringback service called 'Ringback PlayList' with Virgin Mobile in the USA. This service offers subscribers access to a ringback channel instead of a single tone. For $3.49 a month, plus a $1.49 monthly ringback subscription fee, Virgin Mobile customers can access 12 different channels each with 5 ringback selections. Channels are regularly updated with new content.

Ringback tone services are proving increasingly popular in the USA. In February 2008, Virgin Mobile reported over 100,000 subscribers to its existing ringback tone service with Livewire, each user averaging 2 ringback tones. Introducing a service with regularly updated ringback channels widens the range of content available to the user. Screen Digest forecasts further growth in the ringback tone market as consumer choice continues to rise, with revenues near doubling in the USA from 2007 to 2008.
