T-Mobile releases the iPhone on Friday 9 November in Germany for €399 inclusive of VAT. Contrary to previous reports suggesting that T-Mobile users would be able to select any 24 month contract with the iPhone, the company has limited users to a choice of three 24 month T-Mobile contracts. All include unlimited data packages. The lowest tariff, at €49, includes 100 minutes and 40 SMS. For €60, the user receives 200 minutes and 150 SMS. The top plan gives the user 1000 minutes and 300 SMS for a price of €89. Our take... Despite the change to the contract offerings, iPhone consumers are unlikely to be put off by the tariff choices. A 24 month contract is fairly standard with T-Mobile and the tariffs compare favourably with non-iPhone tariffs given the inclusion of unlimited data. For example, a equivalent package to the lowest iPhone tariff of 49 Euros would cost 42 Euros, but data would be limited to 400 MB per month. The top iPhone tariff of 89 Euros is less than a similar non-iPhone package of 102 Euros, again with a data limit of 400 MB.
