Turkish satellite pay TV platform Digitürk says it will launch a high definition (HD) receiver and a number of HD channels in the summer of 2007. The UK's Pace Micro Technology is to supply HD set-tops for the launch. Specification is for a triple-tuner PVR box (TDS850IDI) with dual DVB-S2 tuners and a dedicated DVB-S tuner for push-VOD services. A 250Gbyte hard drive will provide storage for up to 60 hours of HD content or 120 hours of standard definition programming. Digitürk plans to introduce three to four HD channels in Turkish including one or two movie channels, one sports channel and one 'third-party international documentary channel'. The exact offering remains to be confirmed, as does the pricing scheme. Digiturk claims around 1.5m subscribers in Turkey and Europe.
