DVD Forum Presentations
Ben Keen, Screen Digest's Chief Analyst, and Helen Davis Jayalath, Senior Analyst, Video, were guest speakers at the annual DVD Forum Europe conference, held in Berlin on 3 September 2007. Ben presented an overview of the status of the HDTV market in Europe, with a particular focus on the growth in 'full HD' (1080p) displays, and Helen examined the outlook for HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc in the light of the recent decision by Paramount and Dreamworks to publish only on HD DVD. This marked the first time that this event has included contributions from independent analysts in addition to the usual reports from key Forum members; Ben and Helen, along with Conference Director Jean-Luc Renaud, were the only such speakers.

The development of selfcontained replication units has made it possible for DVDs to be manufactured on-demand, and on-site, in retail stores and warehouses.
