In one of two presentations to Media-Tech Asia 2011 held in Macau, China, IHS Screen Digest's Head of Video, Helen Davis Jayalath, examined the outlook for and trends in global home entertainment. The presentation covers all industry sectors including physical video, digital retail (EST), TV VoD and iVOD (digital rental) and includes a specific focus on spending on movies. It assesses the continuing dominance of the video business by physical media and explores the current status of and potential for Blu-ray Disc. Helen also examined recent trends in the digital retail and VOD markets and assesses their likely impact on the overall digital landscape both globally and in Europe and Asia.
