Now that the market for HD TV sets is well on the way to commoditisation, TV set manufacturers are looking to new technologies to provide growth and improve margins. Many manufacturers have designs on emulating the success of 3D movies at the cinema and will launch 3D TV sets in 2010, but is the 3D market ready for the home? Daniel Simmons, TV Technology analyst at Screen Digest presented this summary of the current state of play in 3D at the Photonics and Plastic electronics Knowledge Transfer Network on February 25th 2010.
