Nintendo Leads The Race, But Rivals Are Catching Up

Nintendo has achieved a commanding lead in the console market thanks to the Wii, which had a worldwide installed base of 22m at the end of Q1 2008, ahead of Microsoft's Xbox (16m) and Sony's PS3 (10m). GMI, however, believes its rivals are better placed than Nintendo to benefit from rising HD demand and their greater appeal to third-party games publishers.
