US retail video market declines slowing as BD grows

September 10, 2010

Consumer spending on physical video product at US retail will shrink 9% to less than $9.9bn in 2010 - a smaller decline than the 12.6% plummet the previous year as the rollout of BD continues to build steam. Still, despite the momentum, it's clear that BD is not the hoped-for savior of the disc-based video retail market.

Tables and charts included:

  • First-half retail comparison, 2009 vs. 2010
  • Video retail spending and installed base (2006-2014)
  • DVD vs. BD homes and retail spending (first seven years following launch)
  • Disc-buying by home type (2006-2014)
  • US physical video retail market, 2006-2014
