Dish Network and News Corp. Do Battle

October 19, 2010

Dish Network and News Corp. are locked in the newest programming feud which has resulted in the blackout of 19 regional sports networks, FX and Nat Geo. Not unique to Dish Network is the reluctance to continue to pay increasing carriage fees which grew at a 12% CAGR from 2000 to 2009. Forced to capitulate, subscription television operators will likely opt to reduce program costs by cutting smaller and independent cable networks from their rosters.
