Up and Atom: Intel and the Set-top box industry
November 25, 2011 The delivery of IP content, both to and from the home, and the increasing adoption amongst pay TV operators of multiscreen strategies have begun to pave the way for a new market for higher-powered, increasingly-capable set-top boxes, often in the form of set-top box gateways. With their Atom-based chips, Intel has been a major proponent of this development, and are looking to increase market share within the set-top box business.
