Netflix and the Premiums: The Search for a Sustainable Business Model
April 04, 2011 The relationship between premium networks and Netflix appears to be undergoing some changes as the media conglomerates push for an alternative business model that will protect the long-term value of these networks. Although the recent moves by Starz and Showtime to restrict their deals with Netflix are unlikely to have lasting adverse impact on the rental company's growth as a multi-screen pay-TV platform, Netflix would have to decide eventually whether to accept changes to the current business model or find a different path at the cost of its mutually-beneficial relationship with those companies.
