Australia: the changing face of online rental

Australia is on course to become one of the most competitive digital movie markets in the world. Incumbent telco Telstra has overtaken the big international players in the space as its hybrid online/digital terrestrial TV set-top box, T-Box, is gaining momentum. At the same time, the country's largest online disc-by-mail company, Quickflix, has acquired the physical rental business of BigPond Movies from Telstra, securing the dominant position on the online DVD rental market in Australia and is gearing up for digital movies offer of its own.
