UK broadband in 2011
May 22, 2012 Last year the UK broadband access market experienced its largest year of net additions since 2008, with 1.275m new connections added, to total 20.763m connections Two ISPs dominated UK growth in 2011; BT, the incumbent telco, and Sky, the Satellite Pay TV operator. However, at year end their combined market share was only 47.2 per cent with nearly 30 per cent being contributed by the incumbent. In fact, despite a CAGR of 73.5 per cent since 2006 Sky is still only the fourth largest ISP in the UK behind Talk Talk and the sole cable operator Virgin Media. Tables and charts included:
