Mobile Games Q1 2012: Smartphone and freemium games fuel growth

Games for smartphones, particularly freemium (free-to-download) titles helped EA Mobile, Gameloft and Glu Mobile grow revenues in Q1 2012. EA Mobile reaped the reward of new titles for Japan's Gree mobile social network to achieve record Q1 revenues of $87m. Leading Japanese mobile games publishers Capcom and Konami also reported strong mobile revenues as they too benefited from the strong growth in smartphone and freemium games.
