In 2004, the total number of large format (LF) theatres increased by just 2.8 per cent to 368, in which 20 new screens opened but half of these were negated by 10 screens closing. Meanwhile, Imax screens continued to account for the majority 65.2 per cent of theatres by manufacturer in 2004, down slightly from 63.5 per cent the previous year.
