DVD shipments rise but financial returns are slowed
by falling prices World consumer spending on buying and renting
video software rose by just over 10 per cent to almost
$58bn in 2004. Strong growth in DVD spending
compensated for the decline in VHS and Video CD
(VCD) software spending over the same period.
Worldwide spending on DVD was more than five
times spending on VHS, at nearly $48bn -- an increase
of over 31 per cent compared with a year earlier.
